99 accounts

I have at least eleven thousand accounts online.  It’s absolutely ridiculous.  Every time I turn around someone is telling me I need to create an account with them so I can comment/read/pay/whatever.

I lie one at least ten thousand ninety nine.  Or more.

I just give them the first thing that pops in my head.  My local newspaper, for instance, knows me as Sharon Quid, who lives in Toronto.  Do these people really think everyone is telling the truth?  They can’t possibly.

I’m learning to knit cables.  Which was terrifying initially, because I was sure I’d fuck it up and it’s a piece for a friend.  It’s not too bad.  Have to pay attention though.  And the piece is coming along swimmingly.

The weather here has been compleatly whacked.  It’s like spring when we should be smothering in snow.  I mean, like, 70ish degree days.  No coat.  No mittens.  Sunglassess.  Margaritas, anyone?

Story of my life….

November is nearly over.  It’s finally cold- I’m freezing my ass off as I sit here in my layers waiting for the heat to come on.  Monkey is in the other room feeding his Yuletide film addiction with a Wonderful Life.  My car is in the shop for some unknown, but stinky ailment.  Hopefully Wrench will call with good news in the morn.  There are gifts awaiting wrap.  A large metal chicken decorated with lights, affectionately named ‘Beyonce’ (jr)’, on my porch.

“It’s hard putting christmas lights on a chicken.”

The wine in my glass diminishes by the moment and I am still not satisfied~ mainly because it’s not coffee.  In trying to be sensible, I am often disappointed.  At least in the short run.  Must remember the payoff almost always comes later than I’d like.  I have no interest whatsoever in Yule decorating this year.  (At least at the moment.  It’s still November~ might be more into it next month.)  I am tired of missing my Bear.  We had 4 days off together over Thanksgiving and I loved every moment.  (Ok, maybe not the massive headache Saturnday- but all the rest for certain.)  I miss all the time we had together when we were both laid off.*

Things will get better.  We will have time again.  There will be hikes, and deer hunting and breakfast at home.  And foolishness.  Must remember that.  It’s so hard in this moment though.

Anyway.  Monkey finished his report on prohibition and presented it yesterday.  He wants to do Archery.  Come to that, I do too.  Must get more info on that.  No car puts a kink in the regular plan for Thorsday for us~ we’ll be home in the morn (hopefully off to pick up the car in short order), rather than gallivanting with friends.  There is talk of a Coffee shop meeting… I think we’ll miss that one as well since it’s scheduled for one of my work days.  Maybe next time.

Working on the design for my next tattoo.  What I really need to do is call the artist and sic him on it.  Not being the kind of high caliber artist I’d like to be, I’ll need him to do it for me.  Hope it turns out as I’d like.  Told Bear he could get me more ink for Yule.  He just smiled.

*Yes, I am aware that this is blasphemous in America at this time.  I don’t care.

Obsessions

Things have been kind of insane lately.  See, I’ve been sucked into the Wormhole of Genealogy.  Which means I’ve been up til something like 4 in the morning with coffee and file folders searching a zillion databases, cursing Ancestry for wanting me to pay for Every-Damn-Scrap, madly collating information, and generally trying to figure out who the parents were and where they were from for any given person in my (and Bear’s) family.  There are A LOT of people in my family.  As it turns out- I really am Not alone.  😉

In addition to that, I’m knitting.  Which, as it turns out, I cannot do simultaneously with genealogical research.  Apparently, I’m not *quite* that talented.  Not enough arms ‘n stuff.  Or eyes.  But!  The sweater of mayhem is nearing completion!  I’m all the way up to shaping the neckline.  Now I just have to figure out what the directions really want me to do.  I’m sure it’s simple.  Really.  Except for those stitches it tells me to put on the holder.  And then do what? with them exactly?  Yeah.  I’ll sort it as soon as I see Coffee and Legs.  They’ll no doubt tell me to just do what the paper says and it’ll come out alright.  BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE STITCHES?!  So, yeah, that’s taking up all kinds of space in my brain.

Lastly, I’ve begun reading Game of Thrones.

Absorbing, engrossing, another fabulous timesuck.  Even better, I can read while I’m knitting now that I have a Kindle!  Yes!  Definitely in the top 5 Birthday gifts ever.  I don’t need a paperweight to hold it open.  Don’t have to shift a bunch of stuff around and put things down to turn the page.  Just a gentle bonk on the forward button on the side.  Nice.  The problem is, I got the book through the library and right now kindle books have a shorter loan period than regular books.  With all the stuff I’m currently obsessing over, I’m NOT READING FAST ENOUGH!  It’s due in a couple days.  So I’m going to wrap it up here and get back to it!

Cheers!

the merits of not freezing

you get the idea

I was supposed to go walk down by the river this morning, but opted out because:

  • I got up late
  • it’s too damn cold and windy and sleety
  • coffee at the local diner was calling me
  • I didn’t wanna

Thus I found myself- after staggering into the white death- drinking cup after cup of coffee (liberally endowed with cream and sugar) with Cheesecake, Legs, and eventually Hippie.  Possibly the best moment of the morning was when an ancient man came in with a hat that said “LETCH”.

I so desperately wish I had been able to get a clandestine picture, but, having fallen over in a fit of chuckaliciousness at the hat’s arrival I’m pretty sure the old man wearing it would have realised what I was doing….  And there’s no way I could’ve kept a straight face to ask for a pic.  Maybe next time.

Hula was out today, on account of the weather and no one wanting to slide over to the halau.  A bit of a relief for me, as I found my body wasn’t all in for much of anything shortly after breakfast.  The perils of womanhood and whatnot.  As a bonus though, Monkey (who is still not feeling quite right, poor lad) and I got to share some quality time curled up on the couch under blankies watching Despicable Me.  Which, by the by, is possibly the most perfect movie ever for just that purpose.  🙂

Bear has ventured out to the shop to try and get some work done before his fingers go totally numb.  I may have to ping him shortly to make sure he hasn’t frozen over entirely.

Irish and Dog have returned from their hiatus/house sitting adventure, having been gone a week and some.  Puppa is entirely sure something is amiss and feels the need to let me know with every whining breath.  He’s driving me mad.  Never saw a dog sleep with ‘alert ears’ until now.  It’s pretty amazing; I guess it’s the canine version of sleeping with one eye open…..  Dog is just doing what he does, possibly wondering why the small dog is all wigged out.  Mooch.. well, she’s really not too concerned with much of anything not involving biscuits, cheweez, or squeakers.  Other critters in the house are fine as long as they aren’t dipping into her goodies.

Picked up a new gargoyle at the antique shop the other day.  He’s marvelous.  Smug little grin and teeny wings on his back.  A surprise tail tucked in around his feet.  He’s plaster and needs a touch of repair, but Bear said it won’t be a problem.  I was absolutely gleeful when I looked at the tag and saw he was only 5 bucks.

How could I not bring him home?
