In the span of a day we’ve gone from 98 degrees to 63.  It’s like suddenly waking up in Fall.  I’m wearing a hoodie and the Pup is doing the “I haven’t enough fur” quiver.  I know what this means.

Autumn just kicked Summer in the balls.

Fuck.

Don’t get me wrong.  I love Autumn.  Or Fall.  Whichever.  But it doesn’t bode well for the coming temperatures.  You know what follows right on the heels of Fall?  Winter.  That’s right.

Cold.

I’m doing all I can to prolong the Summer though.  We’re heading to a local beach on Thursday and I’m going to soak up as much sun as possible.  And if I can figure how to stash some in a jar between now and then, you bet your fur I will.  Also, I’m trying to figure out how to put an expansion charm on my kitchen window, so when the sunlight hits it the whole thing expands to the size of the side of the house and lets in as much light as possible.  Not too sure how this will turn out, but if it does I’ll be sure to share.  😉

It’s Labor Day!  Woohoo!

In honour of this holiday, Bear has had a 3 DAY WEEKEND!!!!!  This means I’ve seen him for longer than an hour at a time over the last 3 days!  He got to sleep in Saturday and Sunday in addition to putting a new tattoo on his thigh while we watched the local fireworks on tv last night.  It has been fabulous.

I miss the days when this would’ve been a normal weekend.

Don’t get me wrong….  I’m quite pleased to have the cashflow that a 60-odd hour work week brings.  It’s nice.  But I miss having him around more.  Our schedule is funky enough as it is with him doing 3d shift.  Add an extra 20 hours to the regular and all he does is work, eat, sleep.  It’s all he has time for.

Seriously.

The Chinese has been very accommodating of our shifting schedules, and things are better since we’ve a second car again.  Means my timing doesn’t have to be quite as precise as it did when I had to have the car home in time for Bear to head to work.  (And really, I could just walk anyway.  It’s not as if I work 88 miles away or anything.)  Still.

It’s been fab having the entire weekend with him.  I’ve felt like I could legitimately get distracted with work in the garden and not be neglecting my time with him.  Been a while for that.  Alas, this too must come to an end.  He’s to work this evening, and so is sleeping now in preparation for it.  Even though his sleep schedule was totally fucked this weekend (slept at NIGHT, he did!  Weird, I know) he shouldn’t have any problem getting back into the rhythm of his regular schedule.  His body was still insisting that 2 in the afternoon was tiresomely late and he should be in bed yesterday.  That was after 9ish hours of sleep the night before.  🙂  I know at some point the insanity will stop and he’ll go back to a normal 40 hour week, but it would really help to know it’ll be sooner rather than later.

Ah, well.  Gift horses and all that, right?

Hope everyone has had an equally excellent weekend and that it translates into a marvelous week.  Cheers!
